"The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one."
Mark Twain

Or maybe, I am back, seemingly from the dead. This year has started out a bit bumpy, but I am back “up and at ‘em” again. I haven’t been blogging over the last 10-14 days because I have either been sick with a monster cold or just lacking motivation in general.

All of this was heightened by feeling like I was in the dog house with my Boss at Da Company for things that happened as late as last summer. Talk about holding a grudge. My boss talked to me (in no particular order):
· A customer who didn’t want to pay because they just didn’t feel like it
· A customer who didn’t want to pay because I didn’t give him at least one free day of consulting.
· A customer who I didn’t get ahold of on Tuesday to dial in some changes and then complained.

And that was by Wednesday! Talk about your paranoia! And since I wasn’t feeling good to begin with, it wasn’t a good week in general.

But this week is different. While everyone else is either stuck in the cold or snow, I am in sunny Miami. My customer is fantastic and my only complaint was my hotel, which I changed after 1 night.

Do you ever believe in Karma? I do! A couple of weeks ago when I was just getting into the bad part of the cold, I couldn’t lift up my head on Friday. I had already taken Thursday off and tried on Friday, but at noon, I gave in and called my boss. I knew she was less than happy and totally exhasperated with me, because she wanted me to do a practice teach over the phone for our national users group meeting. Neverthless, I went to bed.

She is sick this week and experienced the exact same thing. She called in late and then decided she couldn’t make it. I don’t wish anyone bad, but at least she can walk in my pajamas for a few days and maybe she will think a little differently the next time I tell her I am sick.

A few of my friends have taken the time to call me out of the blue just to talk. That always makes me feel good to talk with them and hardly ever touch the topic of work. Which I think is sooo cool because I either work with these folks or met them through work.

I am out of the sun here in Miami and headed home to the ice bowl tomorrow. Still, it is good to be coming home.

Enough for now.

Blog on!
