It's Thursday and I am beat...

It has been a long week. I am doing a system audit all week and I am exhausted. It has literally been non-stop from 8 AM till midnight...not all work, but all the time with the client.

And this client is making me some attractive offers of employment that I just might not be able to turn down. Maybe, God is opening up this door of employment opportunity to me? How many times will the door open be it gets' shut permanently.

I spoke with Neil the other night about the pool business. He is mulling over his life options as well. The great thing about this offer is I told them I couldn't move and they said it was ok, if I came up 3 days a week a couple of times a month. So, it is definitely something to consider.

When I call home everynight, I ask about Freeway. Is Artemus accepting him? How is he adjusting? Maybe it is just a kitty, but I really fell in love with him and actually miss him.

I am glad of the upcoming holiday. as I am in serious need of some rest. The fast turnaround from my trip to California, and this week have left me beat. And I still have a million things to do before heading out to Virginia on Monday evening.

In the interim, I am cooling my heels in the Phildelphia Crown Room drinking and wondering if my plane will ever take off for Atlanta.

Been reading Tasha's blog...always enjoy reading it, wish she would write more. But she has a pretty busy life too.

Enough for now.

Blog on.

It’s blogging time again…Yes, for probably for the umpteenth time this year, I am trying to get back into the blogging habit. I am trying to approach this as I do a lot of things in life, which is just because you aren’t good at something doesn’t mean you should give it up. I really do believe that most of us are “Type 1” learners who need the hands on experience to get better. And so I continue to blog on.

Although currently headed to Siladelphia for a 4 day trip to New Jersey, I am just getting back from California. I always enjoy California, but this trip was special.

I always try to make time to see my Dad when I am in SoCal and this trip was no exception. I was out to visit at Christmas, but you have to figure at 70 and not in the best health, you don’t want to miss an opportunity. But I must say, he looked and sounded the best he has in a couple of years. And that did my heart good. I actually had some trepidation about seeing him after hearing how his inability to get around nimbly was getting progressively worse.

In some regards though, my Dad has become a Jewish Mother. The guilt trips that he hoists on you are what you would expect from an over the top Jewish Mother you see on television. “Here, have some cheese, I get it free.” No Dad, for the seventh time, I don’t need it and I really don’t have room for it.” Do you have to leave so soon? (Although not verbalized, I think why can’t we be happy for the good things that happen in our lives and not wonder why we can’t have more?) No, Dad, I really need to get home, cut the lawn, tend to the pool business, do laundry (I am seriously thinking about maid service at my house) and get ready for Sunday’s trip.

Mind you, my Dad didn’t know I was coming until Tuesday. I wasn’t even sure till then. As I am leaving to head out to the client’s, he asks, “Do you want some bananas, coffee, fruit, eggs to go? And countless other things. I appease him only slightly by taking a bag of trail mix. When I said to him, “Let me take you guys out to dinner tonight”, he replies, “I bought some groceries just for you to cook tonight (which was my last night there).” Some things you don’t fight. My response was, “Whatever Sylvia and you want is fine with me, stay in or eat out” (We ate out at Sylvia’s insistence.)

But the highlight of the trip was “Freeway”. He is just the cutest kitten in the whole world. When I was here at Christmas, we were over to my step-sister Bridget’s house and she had a beautiful cat name Dexter. I told them I would take it home with me to be with the best kitty in the whole world (Artemus). She was emphatic in her no and it became a running joke. A few months back, she sent me a picture of two kitty’s that Dexter (I know Dexter is a boy’s name, but I didn’t name her) had. I emailed her back and said we would take them both and to go ahead and sent them. Of course that didn’t happen. One kitten got adopted and the other was being cared for by Bridget. They would have waited for next Christmas to actually give me the cat, but as Bridget was going done the freeway here about a week back, she ran over a kitten (the kitty was between the wheels and unhurt) that someone had apparently left.

When I got to my Dad’s on Friday, both Dexter’s kitten and this new cat was there. I don’t think I ever took to an animal like that, but it was sooooo small and cute. Freeway is so small, he can actually fit into my shoe. I put him in my shoe and thought it was funny. He got out, looked around and then got in and kind of snuggled his butt into the front of my shoe for a few moments. We all laughed and he got out and played around. A few minutes later, I happened to look down at my shoe and it looked wet. As I picked it up, it started to slosh around. Freeway had taken a leak in my shoe!

I went to bed that night and woke up around 4 AM only to find Freeway snuggled next to me. Although I thought that I liked him before, I was convinced that he was coming home with me.

Which he did. And is the most expensive “free” cat you will see. What is that commercial? $55 for a pet carrier, $75 to fly with me on Delta, getting him home and watching him play…priceless!

He hasn’t totally grown on Artemus yet, but he will. Artemus is still the best kitty in the world and this is his house (he just let’s me stay there on weekends and make the mortgage payments).

This is going to be an interesting week. Stay tuned.

Blog on!
